To travel is to live - Ireland, days 4-5

October 4rd, 8:45 pm

We had a looot to do today. First thing after breakfast was getting to the DART station by bus. After the usual cup of a hot beverage, the whole class started to walk to the beach.
We were really lucky with the weather today, it was extremely sunny and also quite warm for irish conditions. That was why we were all so happy and motivated for the following cliffwalk to Greystones. The march was really worth the time we took for it, the view was breathtaking!!! We could see some typical cliffs, high grass and seagulls.
After arriving in Greystones, first thing we did was eating our lunch. The second thing was walking to the bus station and getting in the next bus to Bray, where most of us changed into the 145 and went to Dublin. I had an afternoon of shopping and finished it off with a dinner at the Hardrock Café with Annika, Christoph, Benni & Matthias.
Now I'm home and from all the walking, so damn tired, that I won't even shower anymore. I just have to write 1 postcard, and then I'm good for today.

October 5th, 8.39 pm

Typical irish weather today. Rain, wind, and it was cold as well. That alone would have been bearable, but what was not, were the busses here in Bray. We arrived 45 minutes late for class, and that was completely NOT OUR FAULT. The public transport here is in general unstable, the busses go neither by directions given by inhabitants of this town, nor by timetables or geographical plans that are pinned to the bus stations.
Furthermore, the busses did not drive past a stop that they DID DEFINITELY pass on Friday. Soaked to the skin and angry as hell we arrived finally at the Wilton.
Class was cool today, we learned a new traditional irish song and played werewolf.

At about 12 pm, we left for Dublin.
The rain had stopped by that time, but the sky was still dark and created a really cool atmosphere for taking photos.
The Jeanie Johnston Famine Ship, which we visited then, was extremely interesting. Our tour guide was really sweet and she did the talking about the ship quite well, so it certainly did not get boring.
Next stop was a hotel with public toilets and then at a food hall, were I got a gorgeous sandwich with sourdough-bread, goat-milk-cheese, dried tomatoes and rucola, and afterwards a Café Latte.

Having a full belly and being therefore in a better mood, we made our way to the Guiness storehouse. Due to the late lunch, we missed our tour, but nevertheless, we enjoyed the cool architecture and the mix of old and new.
In the huge souvenir shop, I bought pint glasses for my brothers, a sign for our bar at home (Dad) and a christmas tree globe (mum).

The bus ride home was real fun again.

At home, my host mom Claire kept a huge bowl of Spaghetti Carbonara warm for me, I had some awesome tea, let Nora play with my bracelet and talked to Claire about taking a picture of the fam, Annika and me together on Wednesday and about being an Au-pair. To make a long story short, I felt at home by heart.
